CCQ holds orientation session for academic advisors of public and private schools across Qatar

As part of its ongoing efforts to bring quality student-centered education to the nation’s younger generation, the Community College of Qatar (CCQ), the country’s fastest-growing educational institution, hosted academic advisors from more than 35 public and private schools across Qatar at a special orientation session for the academic year 2018-19, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

Through introducing the schools’ advisors to CCQ’s academic programs, admission policy and rich variety of student services, the interactive event empowers high school students to explore educational opportunities awaiting them at the College and helps them start thinking of their future careers.

During the session, the College’s Associate Dean of Student Services Dr. Cheryl Sterling acquainted the audience with CCQ’s learning culture and how it prepares students to become responsible future leaders of the nation, while contributing to the establishment of an advanced knowledge-based society in Qatar.

Moreover, Head of Academic Advising Ms. Haya Al-Naimi presented attendees with a comprehensive overview of the various learning paths students can take forward, through the college’s academic programs spanning a wide spectrum of exciting fields and disciplines, while Ms. Maryam Al-Ryami, Head of Admission, and the College Registrar Mr. Ihab Iskandar introduced the audience to CCQ’s registration procedures, admission policy, and the prerequisites to enroll in the academic programs offered at the College.

The schools’ advisors also learned about students’ holistic experience at CCQ, including the 360 ͦadmission-to-graduation student services delivered throughout their college life.

Commenting on the occasion, CCQ’s Associate Dean of Student Services Dr. Cheryl Sterling, said:
“One of our missions at CCQ is to interact with Qatar’s younger generation early on in their learning journey. While we ensure high school students know about the quality education we offer, the different paths they can take at the College, and the exciting careers they can take on as a result, our main goal is to get them to start thinking about, and planning for, their future.”

She added: “This, in turn, better prepares them for college life and gives them the time they need to take the steps necessary to turn their vision into reality. This is also why we highly value our collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and the academic advisors and counselors at high schools across the country and make sure we do everything we can to make their advising mission more effective.”

CCQ provides a diverse range of specialized academic programs, including two-year Associate Degrees in Arts, Applied Arts, Science, and Applied Science, in addition to high-demand 2+2 associate and bachelor's degrees that open new horizons to students who can harness such learning opportunities to realize their ambitions.

Today, CCQ is the fastest growing educational institution in Qatar, and is highly regarded as a center of excellence that promotes life-long learning and embraces those seeking higher education through intellectual, personal and social development, with the overarching aim of empowering the Qatari community and achieving the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
