The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) held a ceremony on Wednesday, 27 February 2019 to recognizes the academic merits of 212 outstanding students on the honorary Dean’s List and the Honor’s List for the Fall Semester of 2018. The event was attended by CCQ President, Dr. Mohamed Al-Naemi, and the Dean of CCQ, Dr. Abdallah Hazaimeh, as well as close family of the students.

CCQ’s recognition of distinguished scholastic achievements reflects its ongoing pursuit of academic excellence and the nurturing of the talents and skills of its students across a diverse range of areas that contribute to enriching their learning environment, in line with the College’s student-centered approach to education.

Speaking after the ceremony, Dr. Abdallah Hazaimeh, dean of CCQ, said:
“At CCQ, our main aim is to empower students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their academic and professional endeavors, as well as to effectively contribute to the development of their community and the prosperity of Qatar. An important way to achieve that is by fostering a culture of excellence among the college community and honoring students who demonstrate that they are not only on the right path to success, but are pushing boundaries and doing their best to excel at what they do. Today’s event perfectly encapsulates this principle.”

He added: “To all of our honorees today, we wholeheartedly congratulate you on your outstanding academic achievement and your great embodiment of CCQ’s dedication to excellence. You are a source of pride for the College, and we wish you further success in your education as well as in realizing all your ambitions.”

The distinguished group of students shared their experiences at CCQ and what it means to them to be recognized for their hard work.

Abdulhakim Ahmed Al-Yazidi, currently enrolled in the Associate of Arts in Public Administration program, achieved a Fall Semester GPA of 4.0. He said: “My learning experience at CCQ has been compelling, and has propelled me to fully engage in my studies and diligently pursue all the research and learning activities in the academic program, with the help and guidance of our instructors. This is how I achieved my current GPA and it is why I feel really proud to be honored for my hard work and dedication to excellence.
Today’s ceremony also further encourages me to pursue a Bachelor Degree in Public Administration, as it will further build my capacity and skills in the workplace and help me better contribute to the achievement of our country’s national vision.”

Explaining how he achieved his GPA of 3.5, Hamad Khalaf Al-Kaabi, enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration program said: “Ever since we started our first course in the program, I’ve been keen on making the best use of my time and remaining dedicated to my studies. Being awarded for academic merit is amazing and I believe it motivates students to continue on their educational path and become even more determined to realize their academic and professional aspirations.”

Students on the Dean’s List were awarded certificates of distinction for maintaining a Grade Point Average (GPA) between 3.60 and 4.00 for Fall 2018, while students on the Honor’s List were recognized for maintaining a GPA between 3.35 and 3.59 for the semester.
The College’s Honors Program is designed to offer a more challenging and rewarding academic experience for its most educationally-driven students. In addition to their recognition at graduation and in their official records, students maintaining their places on the Honor’s Lists receive intensive faculty guidance and scholarships for further study, and enjoy priority for CCQ’s Study Abroad program.
