​The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) has recently organized an orientation session on DePaul University’s colleges and academic programs to its students. The session, which was presented by the Director of International Admission at DePaul University Mr. Dino Pruccoli, discussed the transfer opportunities available for CCQ students to the distinguished US University according to the articulation agreement signed between the two higher education institutions. Held at the College’s Lusail Campus, the event also touched upon a number of aspects of interest to students including admission requirements, and facilities and services, as well as the culturally diverse environment students will be experiencing at the Chicago-based University.

Exploring CCQ students’ views regarding the event, they stressed that the session was pivotal in apprising them of the transfer opportunities to the US University with the aim of earning their bachelor’s degrees in a variety of academic fields. Fatima al-Hajri, a foundation program student, said that she learned from the event that she could easily move to the US to complete her studies and choose from a plenty of majors available at DePaul University, noting that she was informed that English literature, a field of study she has always longed to major in, was offered. She also mentioned that she knew about the campus life and life in Chicago City. Amany al-Emary, a student in the Business Administration program, shared Fatima’s opinion, highlighting that she was introduced to the US University’s wide range of colleges. She added, “This lecture was so informative at many levels, as I came to know DePaul University’s admission requirements and programs, in addition to the modes of transportation available and the quickest ones to reach the University’s campuses.” 

Shedding light on the wide range of academic fields available for CCQ students, Mr. Pruccoli said, “At DePaul University we have over 150 different programs, the majority of which are available for CCQ students to study, provided they meet their admission requirements. Once they get admitted to the program, they can major, minor, change their major, or double major. There is complete flexibility.”

He also underscored the importance of CCQ students availing themselves of the advantages of studying at DePaul University, saying, “I think it is crucial for CCQ students to travel overseas in order to experience new cultures, new ways of learning and doing things, and our University in Chicago is a wonderful environment for them to have those experiences.”

It is worth noting that the CCQ-DePaul University transfer articulation agreement inked in May 2015 enables many of CCQ’s classes to transfer to the US University, paving the way for students to earn their bachelor’s degree at one of the United States’ renowned higher education institutions. CCQ students can apply to DePaul University’s multiple colleges, including the Driehaus College of Business, Colleges of Communication, Computing and Digital Media, Education, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and Science and Health.
