Community College of Qatar Participates in Huawei ICT Competition’s Regional Finals 2022
Community College of Qatar (CCQ), represented by student Ahmad Al-Binali– a Bachelor of Science in Cyber and Network Security program student, participates in the Huawei ICT Competition’s Middle East Regional Finals 2022 organized by Huawei Technologies Co. in Muscat, Oman, from December 20 to 22, 2022.

CCQ's participation comes as part of the Qatari team taking part in the 6th edition of this global event under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE). The Qatari Team includes two other students, namely, Hassan Khan from Qatar University, and Saad Hamid from Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU).

This Regional Finals feature 15 talented teams representing 11 countries across the Middle East and Central Asia. Each team comprises three students; two teams from each of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iraq and Sultanate of Oman (the hosting country), and one team from each of Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and Kazakhstan – a new joiner to the competition. 

A total of 45 students compete in the finals from an initial entry of 19,231 students from 472 universities and colleges across the region. Participants have undergone a preliminary competition and training enablement followed by a national exam held recently in Huawei’s offices in each participating country.

The Huawei ICT Competition, launched in 2017, aims at promoting technological innovation and nurturing talents to contribute towards preparing the next generation of ICT leaders for their national digital economy and advancing their national socioeconomic development through using the latest technologies. 

This year's competition comes within the framework of joint cooperation between Huawei and MoEHE, along with the pioneering technological universities, such as Community College of Qatar, Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Qatar University, to organize the competition of the current year in the participating countries. A high-level training was provided to the participants through experts from Huawei under the supervision of academics from the universities, prior to moving to the final qualifiers that include a practical testing for 6 hours, in order to determine the winners in the competition with its various segments.

It is worth mentioning that the winners will receive cash prize, encouragement awards, accredited certificates, internships, and job opportunities at Huawei in recognition of their achievements, in addition to qualifying for the global finals of the competition, to be held in Shanghai next year.
