CCQ holds “Your Questions Matter” Event

The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) recently held an event called "Your Questions Matter" for students across various academic disciplines and programs. The purpose of the event was to address their concerns regarding undergraduate studies at the college, including available academic programs and admission requirements. The event provided students with the opportunity to ask questions and receive informative responses.

A group of eleven academic advisors, along with deans of the academic divisions and several faculty members from various disciplines in the college took part in a remote session aimed at providing students with specialized knowledge and information that help them overcome academic challenges, retain their interest in studies, improve their academic awareness, and support to succeed academically.

This event is part of a series of academic advising programs provided by the Advising Section of the college. Professional and full-time academic advisors spend ample time with students, working with them individually to help them achieve their academic goals. This initiative aims to provide students with the necessary guidance and support they need to excel in their academic pursuits.

Nahed Saoud AL-Zoabi, the Head of the Advising Section at CCQ, emphasized that the primary goal of academic advising is to assist students in selecting the right major based on their capabilities, academic interests, and the requirements of the job market. This is achieved by guiding and preparing them to choose suitable courses that align with the general academic plan.

The Head of the Advising Section also mentioned that upon admission to CCQ, each student is assigned a dedicated academic advisor to support them throughout their academic journey. The advisor provides students with information about the available resources and facilities and guides them in registering for courses according to their study plan. This approach aims to enhance the students' academic performance and ensure their continuation in the college until graduation.

The academic advisor also provides special attention and support to students who are struggling academically, working with them to improve their level of academic achievement and prevent academic failure.
