The Qatar University team won the title by beating its rival, Ahmed bin Mohammed Military College team 4-2 on penalty kicks. The Aberdeen team beat CCQ’s team 5-4 on penalty kicks, after a tough competition between nine university participating teams in the first edition of the tournament.

Additionally, student Mohammed Abdulwahab from Qatar University was named the best goalkeeper, and student Mohammed Saleh from Ahmad Bin Mohammed Military College won the top striker award.

In this regard, Ghaith Alajmi, Acting Activities & Alumni Department Manager at CCQ, praised the great football and technical performance of CCQ’s football team, which resulted in achieving fourth place in the first edition of the University Tournament, especially since it is the first external participation of the team, which constitutes a qualitative addition of the football skills and talents to the college students, whom we aspire to attract during the next stage to achieve an outstanding football performance in the upcoming tournaments.

Mr. Alajmi added that such sport tournaments contribute to students getting to know each other, building their personalities, and fueling the spirit of honest competition between them, especially that the University Tournament witnessed a festive atmosphere, through bringing together several university teams, divided into two groups, the first group included City University College in partnership with the University of Ulster, AFG College with the University of Aberdeen, Qatar Aeronautical Academy and The Community College of Qatar, while the second group included Ahmed bin Mohammed Military College, Police Institute, University of Doha for Science and Technology, Qatar University and Oryx International College.
