CCQ organizes a special seminar on theatre arts and education

In collaboration with the Department of Arts and Theatre at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Theatre Arts Program at the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) has organized a special seminar on theatre Arts and education, as part of the College’s annual World Theatre Day celebration activities. The event was held in the presence of a group of theatre arts educators from various schools, in addition to CCQ’s Theatre Arts students and faculty members.

During the seminar’s first segment, which was moderated by Dr. Marzouq Bashir, Head of the Department of Arts and Theatre at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Professor Suad Al Salem talked about key milestones in the learning experience at the department of arts and theatre in the framework of theatre education. CCQ Theatre Arts Program Instructor Saad Bourshaid also shared with the audience his rich experience with school theatre in Qatar. Meanwhile, Theatre Director and Director of Theatre Education Professor Mohammed Al-Jarrah discussed the impact of theatre on children and students’ learning experience.
Moderated by Dr. Abdul Karim Jawad, the second segment of the seminar witnessed the participation of a group of CCQ Theatre Arts students, who talked about their substantial experience in studying theatre arts at the College. Finally, Theatre Director and Playwright Mr. Ahmed Al-Bader from Al-Watan Theatre Group delivered a live demonstration of puppetry in school theatre.

It is worth mentioning that CCQ’s Associate of Applied Arts in Theatre Arts is a two-year degree program designed to promote the artistic and cultural movement in Qatar, by introducing to students the field of drama and theatre science. The program is comprised of four tracks: Drama and Criticism, Design and Décor, Theatre Administration, and Acting and Directing.
