The CCQ organized the 2nd Alumni Reunion, with the attendance of CCQ President and Under Secretary of Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Al Naimi, CCQ Dean Dr. Abdallah Hazaimeh, faculty members and CCQ alumni and students.
In his speech, Dr. Ibrahim Al Naimi stated that the CCQ made this gathering an annual tradition to build bridges of communication with its alumni. "We believe that CCQ represents a solid bridge that transfers the alumni securely to the Qatari institutions, and you –our alumni- represent surely the pillars of this bridge", added Dr. Al Naimi.
From her side, the guest of honor, Dr. Maryam Al Maadheed, vice president for research and graduate studies at Qatar University, praised the huge progress of CCQ since its establishment in 2010 and the success of CCQ’s alumni in leading many institutions. “The CCQ is one of the pioneering colleges that fulfills many requirements needed by the local community”, said Dr. Al Maadheed. She also added that the community is in dire need of hard work, innovation, creative initiatives, and interaction with local and international expertise.
Mr. Abdulaziz Al Ishaq, the Qatari journalist and the guest of honor, said that the Arab world is facing an acute crisis related to peoples’ consciousness. “Distraction of consciousness is a part of forming the consciousness, but a quality education can enable the individual to understand the facts of the world around us”, added Mr. Al Ishaq.
The CCQ launched the Distinguished Alumnus Award in recognition of the outstanding accomplishments they have done in their career. The alumni are evaluated based on their professional achievements and contributions to civic service, voluntary work and scientific developments, in addition to their support to the CCQ and its values.
During the event, Sheikha Al Anoud bint Ali bin Faleh Al Thani was conferred the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Sheikha Al Anoud pointed out that she wanted to be a role model for Qatari women and girls, so she enrolled in the CCQ and obtained two diplomas, namely the Associate of Arts and the Associate of Arts in Public Administration, in addition to a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration. Sheikha Al Anoud was honored by H.E Prime Minister for her academic achievement. She also participated in organizing several charity events supporting Syrian and Somalian children. “Now, I work for Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (AMAN), and I was behind the idea of Aman e-project that contributes to presenting precise reports and statistics about the cases received by the Center”, stated Sheikha Al Anoud.
The event also featured a variety of cultural activities including an exhibition of the different academic programs offered by CCQ, in addition to kids’ corner.
