CCQ’s Faculty Senate elects its Administrative Board
The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) announced the election of its Faculty Senate’s Administrative Board, in the presence of Dr. Khalid Mohamed Al-Horr, President of CCQ, the election’s supervising committee, and a number of faculty members and administrative staff. The Faculty Senate counts as an advisory board and a cooperative partner to the Vice President's Office to look into the issues faculty members may face in relation to their academic and administrative work.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Hajri, from the Management Department, won the trust of the majority of voters, as Chair of the Faculty Senate, Mr. Mosa Al-Okla, from the Information Technology Department, as Vice Chair, and Dr. Mohammad Al-Mhairat, from the Public Administration Department, as Secretary.  The Faculty Senate includes Dr. Gazi Demir, from the Sciences and Math Department, Dr. Robert Heard, from the Languages and Literature Department, Dr. Kawthar Al-Hudrob, from the Humanities Department, Dr. Mosed Al-Najar, from the Social Sciences Department, Dr. Faysal Fayez Eliyan, from the Engineering Technology Department, and Ms. Nouha Johnson, from the English Language Center.

More than 80 out of the 138 full-time members, up to 60%, participated in the election, with a total of 13 candidates for the Administrative Board. 

Dr. Mohammed Al-Hajri, Chair of the elected Faculty Senate, emphasized that the Senate serves as a link between the faculty members and the CCQ’s administration. The Senate will seek to enhance the academic, administrative, and functional services for the faculty members, in addition to working on developing new policies, aimed at improving the performance of faculty members. He also pointed out that in its first meeting, the Faculty Senate will set its two-year plan.

“On this occasion, I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to Dr. Khalid Al-Horr, CCQ’s President, for encouraging the faculty members to express their opinions within the applicable regulations. I also extend my thanks to the members of the election’s supervising committee for their dedication and responsibility towards a transparent and successful electoral process,” he added
