​In the framework of Qatar’s continuous development of the education sector and its opening up of more horizons to pursue academic excellence, the Minister of Education and Higher Education, H.E. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Wahed Al-Hammadi has issued a ministerial decree to form a committee mandated with the task of studying the mechanism of academic integration between the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) and other technical colleges in the country.
 
Under the chairmanship of Dr. Mohammed Yousef Al-Mulla and Dr. Khalid Abdullah Al-Ali as Vice Chairman, the Committee members include CCQ President Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Naemi and the College Dean Dr. Abdallah Hassan Hazaimeh, alongside Dr. Khalifa Nasser Al Khalifa and Dr. Deborah White.
 
The Committee is concerned with examining the possibility of establishing an integrated entity that combines CCQ, the College of Health Sciences and College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CAN-Q) under one umbrella, or the possibility of forming a joint Board of Trustees (BoT) to oversee the operation of the three colleges.
 
The main tasks of the Committee include preparing a study detailing the nature of the entity that would bring the three colleges together, as well as the possibility of forming a joint BoT in case the study concludes that the colleges cannot be grouped under one entity.
 
The Committee is also responsible for proposing an effective coordination mechanism among the three colleges on the ‘academic and training programs’ front, as well as restructuring academic plans to enhance articulation and academic cooperation among them – with a focus on admission and registration systems – while meeting the requirements of the labor market. Furthermore, the Committee is concerned with the appointment of faculty members, and studying all that would achieve compatibility and integration between the colleges, while avoiding any conflict or overlap between their systems and academic programs.
 
In accordance with the provisions of the ministerial decree, the Committee will report on its activities and the results of its work to H.E. the Minister, along with their proposals, recommendations and mechanisms of implementation.
