ELC Foundation Program
The ELC offers four levels in intensive English language instruction, each of which is an eight-week course with 24 hours of instruction each week. The four courses are parts of the Foundation Year English Program and follow an integrated approach in teaching the four basic skills of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking, with a focus on both fluency and accuracy in a student-centered environment.
Student enter the Program on one of the 4 courses depending on their score in the Accuplacer test. They exit on completion of Level 2 (Arabic track) and Level 4 (English track). In addition to classroom instruction, students work independently on a variety of tasks or projects. The courses also make extensive use of audio-visual aids to give students better opportunities to interact with the language.
The mission of the ELC Foundation English Program is to:
1. Offer outstanding student-centered foundation English education in response to local needs to aid students in reaching the required English language level for their College courses.
2. Provide instruction to develop academic skills which will aid students’ academic and career development.
