Beating more than a hundred students participating from local colleges and universities, Student Salem Alkhater, Bachelor of Science in Cyber and Network Security program became one of five finalists to qualify for the 5th edition of  Huawei ICT Competition Finals for 2021. The internationally-coordinated competition aims to identify promising talents and support future ICT leaders in their countries.

Commenting on qualifying for the Huawei KSA Finals, CCQ Student Salem Alkhater said: “I’m honored to be carrying the name of our beloved Qatar to Huawei’s premier ICT competition, and to be representing the Community College in such a sought-after event. I’m confident that we will be representing our country well in the finals.”

In his remarks on the College’s participation in the prized competition, Dr. Ahmad Al-Omari, Dean of Sciences and Technology Division said: “The main objective of CCQ’s degree programs in IT is to offer the nation a constant stream of highly qualified IT and Cybersecurity professionals who not only help build its critical ICT infrastructure, but secure and protect it as well, especially in light of the increasing security threats we are witnessing across the globe. We are extremely proud of our student Salem Alkhater and wish him the best of luck in the competition finals.”

The Community College of Qatar participates among 3 other local universities, including Qatar University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University and the College of the North Atlantic, in the current edition of the competition, being organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The globally coordinated initiative complements CCQ’s ongoing efforts to enable students to achieve academic and career advancement, while supporting the College’s holistic student-centered education and empowering the Qatari community with specialized skills and knowledge, in response to the local market needs.
