Community College and Lusail University sign articulation agreement

The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) signed an articulation agreement with Lusail University (LU) yesterday, with the aim to help CCQ students to complete their studies in one of the undergraduate programs offered by Lusail University. The agreement was signed by Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Al-Naemi, CCQ President, and Professor Nitham Mohammed Hindi, LU Provost, in the presence of a number of senior officials from both parties.

The agreement has been adopted to help CCQ students transfer credit hours toward Lusail University’s Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Marketing and Distribution Techniques programs. Furthermore, LU and CCQ agreed to participate in the Cross-Registration program by providing students the opportunity to enroll at both institutions at once and take courses required to earn associate or bachelor’s degrees.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Mohamed Al-Naemi, CCQ President, said: “We are pleased to sign the articulation agreement with Lusail University, being a prominent higher education institution that embraces distinguished expertise and offers various specialized academic programs. We are confident that this partnership will achieve our common goals, enrich our student’s academic experience, and open new horizons for them to complete their university studies. We look forward to further cooperation with various state institutions to enrich the academic experience and promote investment in the human capital in a way that supports the achievement of the human development pillar of Qatar's National Vision 2030.”

On his part, Professor Nitham Hindi, LU Provost, highlighted the significance of signing the articulation agreement with CCQ and said: "We look forward to a long-term collaboration that will benefit both parties and enable Lusail University to provide high-quality education and support the labor market with qualified professionals who have the necessary skills and knowledge needed for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Thanks to our strategic partners, Lusail University is determined to become a pioneer in delivering outstanding leadership-based and innovation-driven education.” Professor Nitham further noted that the agreement with CCQ serves the best interests of students at both institutions, as it is the first 2+2 agreement to enable students to earn a two-year diploma from CCQ, complemented with 2 years at Lusail University to earn a bachelor’s degree”.

It is worth noting that the agreement allows applicants who attended the Community College of Qatar to apply for undergraduate transfer admission to Lusail University for either Fall or Spring semesters, with the possibility of directly bypassing the language competency requirements provided that they have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of undergraduate coursework from CCQ with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00. Furthermore, CCQ applicants transferring to LU may be eligible for transfer credit consideration provided that they were admitted as a transfer student at LU and obtained an associate degree from CCQ with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 or completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of undergraduate coursework at CCQ with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00; knowing that only courses completed with a minimum grade of C may be considered for transfer credit evaluation, with a maximum of 60 articulated credit hours earned at CCQ to be considered for transfer.

The two parties agreed to conduct a periodic review of academic courses and programs that fall under the umbrella of articulation and transfer, using accepted procedures for program evaluation, in addition to forming an articulation committee consisting of 3 representatives from each party to review the appendices and recommend any changes.

On the other hand, Lusail University, along with its strategic partners, is currently offering a number of distinguished academic programs in 3 teaching languages, namely Arabic, English and French. The College of Commerce and Business offers a bachelor’s program in Business Administration in partnership with the University of Jordan, a bachelor’s program in Marketing and Distribution Techniques in partnership with Hassan II University in the Kingdom of Morocco, and a bachelor’s program in Supply Chain Management in partnership with Shippensburg University, USA. The College of Law offers two bachelor’s programs in both public and private law in partnership with Hassan II University.
