Huawei has announced Qatar’s team as the winner of the “Outstanding Performance” award at Huawei Middle East ICT Competition 2021, with the Community College of Qatar receiving the “Excellent Academy” award; Student Salem Al-Khater, Bachelor of Science in Cyber and Network Security program, receiving the “Outstanding Performance” award; and Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghushami, IT Instructor at CCQ, receiving the “Excellent Tutor” award.
The announcement was made at the awarding ceremony, held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and attended by all winning teams. The fifth edition of the competition attracted 13 teams of talented students representing 10 countries and 453 local colleges and universities in the Middle East
On this occasion, Dr. Ahmad Al-Omari, Dean of Sciences and Technology Division, extended his congratulations to CCQ’s team and said: "We are proud of our participation in Huawei’s global competition and honored with the awards we received, which reflect the high caliber of CCQ's academic programs, faculty members, and students.” He also stressed how important it is for students to participate in such international contests to develop their skills and expand their knowledge.
Commenting on his award, CCQ Student Salem Al-Khater said: “I joined the competition mainly to represent and honor the name of our beloved Qatar. I really did my best to represent my country and my college well in the finals, and thankfully I won the Outstanding Performance award.”
For his part, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghushami said: "It has been a great honor to be part of CCQ’s team and I am confident that this achievement will give us a further impetus to continue our mission of providing the public and private sectors with highly qualified IT and cybersecurity professionals."
It is worth mentioning that CCQ has been keen on participating in the globally coordinated competition, which aims to identify promising talents and support future ICT leaders in their countries, as part of its ongoing efforts to enable students to achieve academic and career advancement, and provide the local market with specialized national cadres.
